Handmade Swarovski Jewelry

Posted under Jewelry trends and fashion by admin on Sunday 29 March 2009 at 6:54 am

Swarovski crystals are the “Diamonds” of the fashion jewelry world. Women love to wear them. Why? Because they are dazzling, exciting and sexy!

The Swarovski brand name is synonymous with luxury, elegance, excitement and high-fashion. Swarovski crystals adorn the dresses, shoes, handbags and necklines of celebrities at the Oscars as well as all other prestigious awards. At the 2009 Academy Awards the Oscar winners took home a limited edition evening bag from the Atelier Swarovski accessory collection.

Swarovski jewelry is “the choice of the stars”. But the most wonderful thing about it is that you too can have a stunning Swarovski jewelry piece in your jewelry box. Unlike the 2 million dollar necklaces and earrings that you (and I) can only dream about, a Swarovski necklace will make you feel as glamorous as a movie star for a fraction of the cost.

Swarovski jewelry comes in a variety of colors and shapes. Blue, green, pink, ruby, yellow – you name it. All these glittery varieties are flaunted at parties, proms, weddings and even daytime activities. But perhaps the most famous clear Swarovski crystals, are also the most popular. Their stunning shimmer is a perfect combination of glamour and class. One thing is certain – a Swarovski jewelry piece is timeless.

5 Reasons to Shop Handmade Jewelry by Color

Posted under Jewelry shopping tips by admin on Tuesday 24 March 2009 at 5:12 am

•You are looking for a jewelry piece for a particular outfit

Shopping by color is the best way to find a jewelry piece for a particular outfit. Match handmade jewelry to all your favorite tops and dresses to look unique and stylish.
Whether you are going for monochromatic or complementary colors, you can narrow the search for that perfect necklace, earrings or bracelet.

•You are looking for a gift

Shopping by color is one of the easiest ways to find a great gift for a woman. You can look for jewelry to match the color of her eyes or hair. If you know her favorite color – great! If not, take a look at the colors she usually wears. Chances are those are her favorite colors, or at lease the colors she is most comfortable wearing. Getting her jewelry in her favorite color will not only ensure that the gift will be used and loved, but will also make her feel extra special.

•You want to shop smart and fast

80% of our perception is color. Why waist valuable time and energy looking through jewelry in colors you don’t like? Often you are so distracted by the items you don’t like, you end up missing the ones you do like. Start by limiting your search to colors you love – and you are that much closer to finding jewelry you love.

•You are a “mood” shopper

We all have our ups and downs. Our mood is dependant on everything from our personal lives to the weather. Shopping or “window shopping” beautiful handmade jewelry can take your mind off your troubles and improve your mood. If you are anxious - try browsing green and blue jewelry for a calming effect. If you feel sad or long for a sunny day in the middle of winter – try yellow jewelry. If you are feeling romantic enjoy the girly charm of pink and purple. There is a mood for every color and a color for every mood.

•It’s more fun that way!

Finally you can “paint the town red” without leaving your apartment. Take charge of your shopping experience. Necklaces, earrings and bracelets can change their color at your command. Pretend you are on a shopping spree with a magic wand – a wave of your hand can make the store turn pink, purple or gold! Enjoy this magical and amusing experience and only look at jewelry you are more likely to love.

•What’s your favorite color?

Mixing gold and silver jewelry

Posted under Jewelry trends and fashion by admin on Monday 23 March 2009 at 4:33 am

For many years, mixing gold and silver jewelry was considered a fashion no-no.
Why, you ask? I think that the real reason is that a bad jewelry combination is much easier to ignore when it is the same color. It’s not the clash of metals, but the clash of styles that rubs our eyes the wrong way. When combining metals (just like when combining colors) it is easier to make a fashion mistake. Oh… but what a colorless world it would be if we stopped trying…

The truth is that silver and gold work together like sunshine and snow. They balance and accentuate each other. Gold and silver are the rebirth of the classic yellow and blue combination. Only silver and gold is more subtle and therefore more sophisticated.

Lately the silver and gold blend is finally getting the recognition it deserves. Top jewelry designers everywhere are presenting intriguing pieces with silver and yellow gold. So while mixing silver and gold is far from traditional, it is certainly becoming. (And quickly becoming a trend :) )

If you want to explore the silver and gold blend but prefer to err on the side of tradition, what you really need is a transitional piece. A transitional piece is a piece of jewelry with a mix of silver and gold. This piece will be the visual “middleman” between your silvers and your golds. It will be the unifying motif that ties your jewelry together and will help you master the S&G look.

Mixing gold and silver jewelry gives you the opportunity to have the best of both worlds. Just remember – combining jewelry is much more a matter of combining styles then metals. In most cases, wearing 3 necklaces one on top of another looks about as stylish as wearing 3 belts. If you are uncertain, choose a jewelry piece that already combines gold and silver in the design, and eliminate the guesswork.

Jazzy - A handmade agate and goldfilled necklace

Posted under Uncategorized by admin on Wednesday 4 March 2009 at 11:49 am

Had it been made with another gemstone, this could have been an elegant and classic necklace. But it isn’t. The agates just seem to burst out of the frame, eager to ignite everything on their way. There is something playful and candy-like in these gemstones.

Buyers beware: the vivacious energy of this necklace is highly contagious!

This necklace is for those who like to stay outside the lines :)

All That Sparkles - Goldstone jewelry

Posted under Gemstones by admin on Tuesday 3 March 2009 at 10:54 am

Whoever said that not all that sparkles is gold, must have been a fan of Goldstone jewelry. This gemstone (well, not technically) has a pretty fascinating history.

The strange part is that it isn’t really a natural gemstone. According to legend, an order of monks in Italy, were practicing alchemy and accidentally spilled copper into molten glass. The result was a reddish brown glass with tiny gold sparkles. This substance, known among other names as “monk’s gold” or “monkstone”, became one of the most popular gemstones in the world.

The sparkles of the goldstone are both mesmerizing and sophisticated. They are just visible enough to ignite interest without going over the top. Even if the only way to get you near anything that “sparkles” is to open up a bottle of Dom Pérignon, Goldstone can be your favorite gemstone. To me goldstone is like a really fabulous cocktail – uplifting, sexy and delicious!
Bottoms up!

Handmade red coral and sterling silver necklace

Posted under Uncategorized by admin on Sunday 1 March 2009 at 5:45 am

Red coral jewelry is a powerful amulet and possesses many health benefits.
One of the most extraordinary aspects of the red coral is that it can change color whenever its owner is experiencing health problems, before any symptoms are noticeable.

A red coral necklace can protect against heart disease, improve blood circulation and protect against a miscarriage. It is also an effective talisman against the evil eye, jealousy and can ward off hurricanes.

I love the combination of red coral and ornamental silver elements in this new necklace. What do you think?
