I’ve always had a thing for wearing flowers… What could be more romantic and blissful then wearing a string of flowers in your hair or around your neck? When I think about it I am filled with an overwhelming since of freedom. And even though it’s January, I can almost smell spring in the air…

Wearing flowers may be wonderful but it is hardly practical. Wearing floral gemstone jewelry however, is both wonderful and practical!

With that in mind, I would love to share my new designs with you. These combine my long time love of flowers with my new found love of Jade.

Last time I’ve gone to stock up on jewelry supplies, I found an exciting strand of translucent green Jade. By the time I came home, my mind was racing. I was overcome with visions of necklaces and earrings. I couldn’t stop. I still can’t! These beads were so unusual they seemed to have a mind of their own. Little by little, I recalled everything I read about this gemstone… and it all began to make sense. Jade is a truly amazing gemstone. It is the most highly regarded gemstone of the Chinese culture. Jade is the prototype of all gemstones and the embodiment of the five cardinal virtues: Its warmth when touched – the symbol of charity; its brilliance – the symbol of modesty; its toughness – the symbol of courage; its translucency - the symbol of wisdom; its corners, which seem sharp but never cut – the symbol of justice.

This gemstone has been used in many civilizations for over 4000 years. It would be very hard (and very long) to list all of its uses. From weapons, religious ceremonies and burials, to coin making, medicine and jewelry making. This stone really has “done it all”!
